L3p D3sk - Silent Workstation by l3p
Project Log: Here
Despite the fact that many of us use desks to house our PCs, it surprises us that more people don't think of combining the two. It saves space and there's room for an epic PC in the extra room a desk provides. The idea wasn't lost on l3p, though, and we were bowled over when we first saw his project, entitled L3p D3sk - Silent Workstation, which began in November.
Initial renders show a custom-built desk with a ton of hardware packed inside. What really caught our eye was the fact that the PC is going to be water-cooled. Thankfully we didn't have to wait long for something physical to look at with welding, cutting and sanding all going on in l3p's project log on a grand scale.
With the huge frame of the desk complete, fans were test-fitted and l3p also made holes down into his house's foundations. The reason for this is so that a gargantuan 9 x 120mm-fan radiator could be installed there making use of the chilly air, which l3p claims gives him enviable water temperatures of around 17°C in winter.
All that metal, including some chrome tops for the system's two D5 pumps certainly does the trick with the eye candy. We also get the first glimpse of the case with much of the hardware installed too. It's a monster.
In the most recent images, we get some illumination too which adds even more pizazz to the equation. This is definitely one to watch and we can't wait to see the finished article.
If l3p's huge PC in a desk flats your boat, head to
the forums to vote for it.
